In 2025, Veranda and partner Nushoor built a community greenhouse to grow fresh vegetables for food-insecure families in Gaza. The project was developed as a practical response to the growing food insecurity in the Gaza Strip, where the destruction of agricultural land, limited access to fresh vegetables, and prolonged humanitarian challenges have significantly affected local food production.

The greenhouse was designed to provide a resilient and sustainable agricultural solution capable of producing fresh vegetables under challenging environmental and operational conditions. While Nushoor contributed the technical design and engineering expertise, Veranda led the full implementation of the project, managing the construction process and adapting the structure to local conditions. During implementation, the team introduced several technical improvements, including enhanced rainwater drainage, reinforced structural stability, and protective measures that increased the greenhouse’s durability and long-term performance.

The project established a community-based greenhouse for cultivating fresh vegetables such as tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers, demonstrating how greenhouse farming, sustainable agriculture, and climate-smart food production can improve access to nutritious food in emergency settings. By promoting local food production, the initiative contributes to strengthening food security, supporting community resilience, and encouraging environmentally sustainable agricultural practices in Gaza.

The collaboration between Veranda and Nushoor highlights the value of combining effective field implementation with specialized technical expertise. Today, the Greenhouse for Food Security in Gaza serves as a pilot model for sustainable greenhouse farming and community-based agriculture, illustrating how innovative environmental solutions can increase local food production, reduce dependence on external food assistance, and contribute to long-term sustainable development in Gaza.
